Grimes upcoming album PSYOPERA announcement

Overview

Canadian experimental pop artist Grimes has announced her first studio album in six years, titled ‘PSYOPERA’. To introduce the project, she released the single and music video ‘ACCELERANDO’, a track produced with VADAKIN that explores themes of technological advancement and weaponry.

Grimes will release the album through her own label, Nazgul Recording LLC. The project is expected to address topics including artificial intelligence, internet culture, religion, and war. While the album is inspired by AI, Grimes stated she does not use generative AI to create her music.

In subsequent details, the artist indicated the album may be released in two parts and described it as a journey exploring nihilism and aggression. She noted the work aims to use AI as a mirror to humanity and confirmed the project will not include references to her former partner, Elon Musk.
