Grândola: Man arrested for smuggling drugs into Pinheiro da Cruz prison

A 33-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Pinheiro da Cruz prison in Grândola, Portugal. The arrest was carried out by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) following a report from the prison facility regarding a suspicious visitor.

During the operation, authorities seized 545 individual doses of hashish. Additionally, two A4-sized sheets of paper suspected of being impregnated with synthetic cannabinoids were confiscated. The investigation revealed that the suspect attempted to deliver a package containing these substances to an inmate during visiting hours.

Following a judicial interrogation, the suspect was placed in preventive detention. The inquiry is being managed by the Setúbal Section of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP).
