Groningen announces subsidies for youth employment and agriculture

The Province of Groningen has announced new subsidy initiatives aimed at regional development in both the education and agricultural sectors.

In a first allocation from the Lifelong Learning (LLO) scheme, 4 million euros has been granted to the Vereniging Kansrijke Groningers. This project involves a collaboration between 16 school boards and 113 schools to better prepare approximately 17,500 children and youth for the labor market. The initiative focuses on four key areas: ICT and natural sciences, entrepreneurship, talent and career development, and regional employment through internships and practical assignments.

Additionally, the province is launching a 1 million euro subsidy program for agricultural innovation and experimentation. Starting October 1, 2026, farmers and agricultural organizations can apply for funding to test new techniques, crops, and sustainability measures. The program supports both small-scale practical experiments and larger research projects to foster a more sustainable and future-proof agricultural sector in the region.
