Groningen Province offers subsidies for climate-resilient industrial estates
The Province of Groningen has introduced a subsidy scheme aimed at making industrial estates more climate-resilient and green. The initiative targets entrepreneurs, business associations, and municipalities to help combat the effects of heat, drought, and heavy rainfall.
Funding can be used for various measures on both public and private land, such as reducing paved surfaces, planting trees and shrubs, and creating areas for rainwater absorption or temporary storage. These improvements are intended to prevent sewage system overload during heavy rain and to enhance biodiversity. Additionally, the scheme supports creating a better working environment through green walking paths and rest areas.
