Grottaminarda opens new school canteen facility

A new school canteen facility for the Istituto Omnicomprensivo San Tommaso d’Aquino is set to begin operations in Grottaminarda on October 19. The modern, earthquake-resistant building was constructed using approximately 600,000 euros in funding from the Italian Ministry of Education, supported by the European Union’s Next Generation EU program.

The facility will serve over 130 children across nursery, primary, and lower secondary levels for the 2026/2027 school year. Designed as a nearly zero-energy building (nZEB), the canteen features updated kitchen and storage areas and will move away from single-use kits, providing reusable plates and cutlery to students.
