Expansion of PNRR-funded school and childcare facilities

Overview

The trend of upgrading educational and childcare infrastructure across Italy, largely supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and European Union funds, continues to expand. Recent developments emphasize energy efficiency, seismic resilience, and urban regeneration.

In Piedmont, new facilities include a childcare center in Rifreddo, the reopening of Nidotondo in Recanati, and the “Gli Sbirulini” nursery in Cuorgnè. In Levanella, a 3.5 million euro school hub was inaugurated following near-zero energy building (NZEB) standards, while Navelli completed a new nursery to replace earthquake-damaged structures. Safety remains a priority, with Castellalto allocating funds for fire prevention and Crosia addressing structural risks at the Via dell’Arte school.

In Puglia, the “Guglielmo Marconi” polyvalent school in Canosa di Puglia was inaugurated following a 4.1 million euro investment, and a new canteen opened at the Marconi primary school in Albanella. In Emilia-Romagna, projects include eco-friendly nursery expansions in Borgo San Giacomo and a 2.1 million euro primary school reconstruction in Cerredolo.

Recent expansions include the inauguration of a new school gymnasium and canteen in Castel Campagnano, utilizing solar energy, and new canteen facilities at the ‘Michele Bello’ and ‘Randazzo’ complexes in Siderno. In Grottaminarda, a nearly zero-energy building (nZEB) canteen was opened for the Istituto Omnicomprensivo San Tommaso d’Aquino. In Sondrio, PNRR funds will support the removal of architectural barriers at schools in Credaro and Triangia. Conversely, in Rocca di Papa, officials are addressing long-standing foundation issues at the Giardino degli Ulivi school, which led to the precautionary closure of its canteen.
