Grupa Azoty faces escalating labor disputes at Siarkopol and Puławy

Labor tensions are escalating within the Grupa Azoty chemical group in Poland. At Siarkopol (Kopalnie i Zakłady Chemiczne Siarki), the NSZZ Solidarność union has scheduled a strike referendum for September 10 and 11. Union demands include the restoration of collective labor agreement provisions, payment of overdue benefits from an agreement made nearly two years ago, and a gross base salary increase of 1,000 PLN.

The conflict at Siarkopol is particularly critical for Grupa Azoty’s financial performance, as high sulfur prices—driven by global supply shortages—have significantly boosted the group's revenues and profits.

Simultaneously, workers at Zakłady Azotowe Puławy are engaged in a collective dispute. While management recently broke previous stances by officially proposing a base salary increase, union representatives stated the offer falls significantly short of their 1,500 PLN monthly demand.
