Grupo ICE completes ₡7.5 billion infrastructure project on Ruta 32
Grupo ICE has completed a ₡7.5 billion investment project to improve lighting and connectivity on a 26-kilometer stretch of Ruta 32 in Costa Rica. The works, carried out by the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) and the Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz (CNFL), cover the section between the Zurquí Tunnel and the Rainforest Teleférico.
The project involved the installation of 514 poles, 511 LED lights, 17 telecommunications radio bases, and 57 kilometers of fiber optics. According to Marco Acuña, president of Grupo ICE, the infrastructure was completed in just over 14 months despite hostile terrain and weather conditions. The upgrades aim to enhance safety and communication for travelers in one of the country’s most complex mountainous sectors.
