Veracruz Governor Nahle requests water concession review and addresses political issues

Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García has requested that the National Water Commission (Conagua) investigate a well in the Perote region. Local residents from Altotonga and Jalacingo claim the well's operation is affecting water supplies. Nahle noted reports suggesting the well is linked to the family of former gubernatorial candidate José Francisco Yunes Zorrilla and warned that if the water is being sold commercially without authorization, the concession should be revoked.

In other political developments, Nahle addressed the potential removal of legal immunity (fuero) for mayors and trustees in Veracruz, stating that officials must be accountable for their actions regardless of such protections. Additionally, she commented on the political future of Economic Development Undersecretary Eduardo ‘Tato’ Vega, noting his current focus on regional development while allowing for future electoral aspirations.

At the federal level, Aureliano Hernández Palacios Cardel, head of the Superior Auditor of the Federation (ASF), clarified his compensation. He explained that while monthly budget formats might suggest a higher salary than President Claudia Sheinbaum, his annual income is approximately 200,000 pesos less than hers. He attributed the perceived discrepancy to the prorated presentation of benefits and emphasized that the ASF is implementing austerity measures, including a 10 percent pay cut for senior officials.
