Grupo Puntacana receives Central American & Caribbean Games torch
In Higüey, La Altagracia province, the official torch for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games (Santo Domingo 2026) arrived in a ceremony at the Parque de La Virgen. CMO Paola Rainieri received the flame from taekwondo athletes Edinson Sánchez and Johan Familia and then handed it to Dr. Virgilio Cedano, founder of the Clínica Doctor Virgilio Cedano.
Grupo Puntacana was highlighted for its long‑standing support of sport in the Dominican Republic, noting its backing of Olympic‑medalist boxer Junior Alcántara and its involvement with the Creando Sueños Olímpicos (CRESO) program, which develops high‑performance athletes. Rainieri said, “Sport is a driver of development for youth, and we are committed to creating real opportunities for young Dominicans through sport.” The torch relay marks the centenary celebration of the Games and the upcoming Santo Domingo 2026 edition.
