Grupo Salinas reports 319 billion pesos in tax payments to settle litigation

Grupo Salinas, the Mexican conglomerate led by billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego, has released official tax receipts from the Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) to demonstrate the conclusion of long-standing tax litigation. The company reports that it has paid more than 319 billion pesos (approximately US$18.8 billion) in taxes between 2005 and July 2026.

The group stated that the publication of these records serves as a response to what it described as a “permanent campaign of discredit and disinformation” regarding its fiscal responsibilities. The settlement follows legal disputes where the company argued that certain tax determinations violated principles of tax proportionality by creating double taxation.

Key divisions within the conglomerate have addressed specific obligations: TV Azteca has completed payments exceeding 4 billion pesos to close its litigated tax liabilities, while Grupo Elektra continues a structured payment program, having paid over 13.6 billion pesos to date. The company expects to make an additional 5.9 billion pesos in litigation-related payments by the end of the year.
