Gás do Povo program releases gas vouchers for 3.2 million families

Caixa Econômica Federal has begun releasing the July recharge vouchers for the ‘Gás do Povo’ program, benefiting approximately 3.2 million low-income families. The benefit provides free refills for 13 kg gas cylinders to households registered in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) who are also part of the Bolsa Família program and have a monthly per capita income of up to half a minimum wage.

The frequency of refills depends on household size: families with up to three members are entitled to four refills per year (every three months), while families with four or more members receive six refills per year (every two months).

Beneficiaries can redeem the voucher digitally at authorized retailers using a Caixa Econômica Federal chip card or via a security token sent by SMS to the head of the household's smartphone. The ‘Meu Social’ or ‘Gás do Povo’ apps can be used to locate accredited distributors. The program covers only the gas refill and does not include the cost of the empty cylinder or delivery fees.
