QodeNext, an Indian supply‑chain traceability provider, says the upcoming GS1 Sunrise 2027 initiative will move industries from traditional 1D barcodes to data‑rich 2D codes such as GS1 DataMatrix and QR codes. According to CEO S R Srinivasan, “GS1 Sunrise 2027 marks a significant shift toward connected supply chains powered by detailed product‑level data.” Companies will need end‑to‑end readiness—upgrading printing equipment, scanners and machine‑vision systems—to capture richer data that improves inventory management, recalls, counterfeit prevention and regulatory compliance across sectors like pharmaceuticals, FMCG, agro‑chemicals and home appliances.
