GS25 expands ready-to-eat meal options with bakery-style sandwiches and mini kimbap

GS25, operated by GS Retail, is diversifying its ready-to-eat meal lineup to meet growing consumer demand for convenience store meals. The retailer is introducing bakery-style sandwiches and bite-sized mini kimbap to enhance its product competitiveness.

The new sandwich range moves beyond traditional sliced bread to include specialty breads such as ciabatta, salt bread, and soboro bread. This shift follows data showing that approximately 25% of sandwich sales occurred between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM from January to September this year, highlighting a strong demand for breakfast replacements.

Additionally, the retailer is launching two series of mini kimbap, measuring approximately 4 to 4.5 cm in length. These include the ‘Dipping’ series, which features sauces like mustard or white garlic mayo, and the ‘Tongtong’ series, which focuses on rich fillings such as tuna mayo. These products aim to cater to diverse eating patterns and preferences as convenience stores increasingly serve as primary meal destinations.
