GS25 gimbap sales rise 36.2% following trending recipe collaborations
GS25, operated by GS Retail, has reported a 36.2% year-on-year increase in gimbap category sales for the first half of this month. The growth is attributed to the successful launch of specialized gimbap products that utilize trending recipes from social media and collaborations with famous restaurants.
Key successful products include the ‘Myeongran Whole Egg Gimbap’ and ‘Flying Fish Roe Mukeunji Gimbap,’ developed in collaboration with the popular restaurant Sikmulwon Gimbap. The Myeongran Whole Egg Gimbap sold out its initial 500-unit reservation in just 10 minutes, while the Flying Fish Roe Mukeunji Gimbap surpassed 100,000 cumulative sales within one week of its release.
Additionally, the ‘Buldak Cheese Omelet Gimbap,’ inspired by street food recipes popular on social media and featuring Samyang Foods’ Buldak sauce, has sold over 500,000 units within a month of its launch. GS Retail stated that they plan to continue developing diverse products that reflect domestic and international food trends to meet increasing consumer demand for unique ingredient combinations.
