GSP condemns violence during APOEL vs. AEL derby

The Gymnastic Club ‘Ta Pankypria’ (GSP) has issued a statement regarding the violence that occurred during the APOEL vs. AEL football derby on September 6, 2026, at the GSP Stadium.

The club praised the rapid and effective intervention of the Cyprus Police and the stadium security team, noting that their coordination helped restore order and prevent further escalation. GSP also highlighted the importance of the stadium's closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, which has enabled the recording of incidents and the identification of individuals involved in throwing objects and flares.

GSP condemned all forms of violence in sports venues, stating that actions endangering fans, employees, athletes, and police officers have no place in football. The club expressed regret over the injuries sustained during the incidents, which included a 10-year-old girl and a member of the police force.
