GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup at Magny-Cours sees mixed fortunes for drivers

Italian driver Matteo Cairoli returned to the Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO #14 for Emil Frey Racing at the Magny‑Cours round of the 2026 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup. After qualifying 17th with a 1:36.919 lap, the Cairoli‑Lappalainen duo ran in the 20th position before a red‑flag. Following a driver change, Cairoli finished the weekend in 17th place, leaving the pair without championship points and sitting 17th in the sprint standings ahead of the next event at Zandvoort.

German driver Carrie Schreiner, competing in the Bronze Cup class, recorded a personal best by qualifying sixth in class despite heavy rain limiting track time. In the race she started 41st overall and 10th in class, briefly triggering a full‑course yellow before improving her pace in the closing minutes, though she could not climb higher in the final results.

Both drivers highlighted the challenges of the tight Magny‑Cours circuit and expressed hopes for better performances at upcoming rounds.
