Gua Musang accident kills mother and infant

A multi-vehicle collision on the Gua Musang-Kuala Krai road in Kelantan resulted in the deaths of a 33-year-old woman, Maslina Md Shafie, and her two-month-old daughter, Medina El Zahra Muhammad Zulfadhli.

The accident occurred around 5:30 PM at Kilometer 52 and involved three Perodua Myvi vehicles and a motorcycle. According to Gua Musang District Police Chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo, the crash was triggered when a red Perodua Myvi traveling from Kuala Krai toward Gua Musang veered into the oncoming lane. The red vehicle struck an orange Myvi before colliding with the white Myvi carrying the mother and infant.

A motorcycle was also involved in the chain reaction. While the occupants of the orange Myvi were uninjured, other victims were taken to Gua Musang Hospital for treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.
