Gua Musang sinkhole forces closure of Jalan Gua Musang-Kota Bharu
A sinkhole has caused the full closure of the Jalan Gua Musang-Kota Bharu (FT08) near the Kesedar Ethnobotany Recreation Park in Gua Musang. The sinkhole, measuring approximately eight meters deep and nine meters long, occurred at a section of the Central Ring Road (LTU) project.
The Public Works Department (JKR) has announced plans to install a Bailey bridge to restore access, with installation scheduled to begin on October 14. The process is expected to take about one week, though completion remains subject to soil stability and site safety conditions.
Local authorities have advised motorists traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu to use alternative routes via FT2747, Jalan Pulai-Bandar Baru Gua Musang. Concerns have been raised regarding the risk of the sinkhole spreading to adjacent road structures due to recent heavy rainfall.
