Gua Musang sinkhole and road closure
Overview
A sinkhole measuring approximately eight meters deep and nine meters long opened near the Kesedar Ethnobotany Recreation Park, causing the full closure of the Jalan Gua Musang-Kota Bharu (FT08) road. The incident occurred at a section of the Central Ring Road project, prompting concerns that heavy rainfall could cause the sinkhole to spread to adjacent structures.
To restore access, the Public Works Department (JKR) initiated the installation of a 42-meter-wide Bailey bridge. By mid-October, construction of the temporary structure reached approximately 40 to 45 percent completion. While progress has been subject to slight disruptions due to rain, authorities expected the bridge to be operational by late October to allow for two-way traffic.
