Municipalities in Mexico and Colombia advance infrastructure and debt management

Various municipal governments in Mexico and Colombia are implementing infrastructure and financial management initiatives.

In Tlajomulco, Mayor Gerardo Quirino Velázquez has proposed an initial 10 million peso payment to begin regularizing the municipality's debt with the Intermunicipal System of Drinking Water and Sewerage Services (SIAPA). The plan includes adjusting the 2026 budget and potentially using municipal land and infrastructure to settle the total debt.

Roadwork and maintenance projects are also underway across several regions. In Guadalajara, the government completed the rehabilitation of streets in the Medrano area, involving a 9.1 million peso investment. In Tehuacán, paving works have begun on Avenida Ramón Caballero to benefit over 32,000 residents. Other local efforts include emergency pothole repairs in Villa de Pozos and road improvements in El Mante, Tamaulipas.

In Colombia, the Mayor's Office of Pasto is conducting maintenance on rural roads in the La Caldera and El Encano districts to improve connectivity and agricultural transport for farming communities.
