Guadalajara hosts food festival and mass cycling event
Guadalajara hosted two major community events in its historic center and public spaces. To celebrate the fifth Municipal Torta Ahogada Day, the city government distributed 26,000 free tortas ahogadas. The initiative, led by Mayor Vero Delgadillo, involved 30 local vendors and aimed to promote the city's traditional gastronomy and support local businesses. The municipal government provided 25,000 sandwiches, while the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Food Industry (CANIRAC) contributed 1,000.
Additionally, thousands of participants joined the Mega Rodada 2026 to observe World Car Free Day. Cyclists, skaters, and scooter riders traveled a 15-kilometer route through major avenues, including Vallarta and López Mateos Sur. Organized by various collectives, including Bicicleta Blanca, the event sought to increase visibility for daily commuters and advocate for cyclist rights and safer public spaces.
