Guadalajara Provincial Council announces new investment fund and electricity savings

The Provincial Council of Guadalajara (Diputación de Guadalajara) has announced several initiatives aimed at supporting local municipalities. President José Luis Vega confirmed a new call for the Municipal Investment Fund (FIM), which will provide funding for construction, rehabilitation, and infrastructure improvements in municipalities with up to 20,000 inhabitants, as well as smaller districts and rural entities.

To improve crisis management, a new service will be established within the Regional Centers to handle emergencies, such as natural disasters, without diverting resources from daily municipal functions. This measure follows previous incidents where emergency responses impacted essential services like water supply.

Additionally, the Council has signed a framework agreement for electricity supply. This contract allows local town halls to join the agreement within 15 to 20 days, potentially reducing their electricity bills by between 30% and 40%.
