Gualdo Tadino and Selinunte stage classical Greek myth productions

The historic Rocca Flea fortress in Gualdo Tadino will host the theatrical version of the Greek myth "Orfeo & Euridice Fabula Amoris" on 6 and 7 July. The production is directed by and stars local actor Andrea Garofoli, alongside actress Jaele Fo and a supporting cast that includes Alessandra Arcangeli, Cecilia Napoli, Giulia Zuccaro and Valeria Torre. Sponsored by the municipality, the performance blends spoken drama with live music and aims to explore timeless themes of love, loss and hope.

On 28 July, the Temple E of the Selinunte archaeological park will present "Orestea – La fuga di Eschilo", a staging of Aeschylus' tragedy directed by Giacomo Frazzitta. Part of the Selinunte Estate 2026 program, the show features a cast led by Serena Tumbarello, Marcello Rimi, Sergio Giacalone and others, accompanied by live music. The production reflects on guilt, justice and the transformation of private vengeance into public law, bringing ancient Greek drama into a sacred historic setting.

Both events illustrate a resurgence of open‑air classical performances in Italy, linking heritage sites with contemporary cultural audiences.
