Guanajuato prepares for 2026 Day of the Dead celebrations

The state of Guanajuato has announced an extensive program of activities for the 2026 Day of the Dead season, spanning its seven regions. The festivities include the eighth edition of the Day of the Dead Festival in Guanajuato Capital from October 28 to November 2, featuring the 'Tapete de la Muerte' international ephemeral art exhibition and a parade of Catrinas.

Other regional events include the 'Halloween Zoo' in León, the 'Festival de las Almas' in Salvatierra and Abasolo, and various festivals in Jerécuaro, Tarimoro, Valle de Santiago, Irapuato, Silao, and Dolores Hidalgo. This year, Japan serves as the guest country for the Guanajuato Capital festival, reflecting a growing interest from Japanese tourists in the state's history and architecture.

In Guadalajara, the Calaverandia theme park will host its seventh edition starting October 20 at Parque Ávila Camacho. The five-hectare nocturnal experience features large-scale installations, multimedia shows like 'Alma' and 'Taü', and interactive elements designed to celebrate Mexican tradition through technology and art.
