Guanajuato Health Ministry promotes heart attack awareness

The Guanajuato Ministry of Health is urging the public to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack to ensure immediate action during cardiac emergencies. Key warning signs include chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, cold sweats, and discomfort spreading to the arms, back, neck, or jaw. Authorities advise calling 911 immediately upon noticing these symptoms.

In observance of National Heart Week, Health Secretary Gabriel Cortés Alcalá highlighted the importance of basic emergency knowledge. The state is promoting the ‘Cardioprotected Spaces’ strategy to establish a regulatory framework for implementing and sustaining safe environments. As part of this initiative, approximately 199 staff members across administrative, nursing, medical, and psychological departments have received training from the State of Guanajuato Emergency System (SUEG) in hands-only CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED).
