Guanajuato initiates consultation for new Circular Economy Law

Legislators in Guanajuato have launched a consultative forum to develop a new Circular Economy Law for the state and its municipalities. The initiative, presented by members of the Partido Acción Nacional and the PRD, aims to replace current legislation with a framework that improves coordination between state and municipal authorities and productive sectors.

The proposed law seeks to strengthen shared responsibility in material utilization, establish state-level planning and monitoring indicators, and create incentives for circular production and consumption models. María Isabel Ortiz Mantilla, president of the Environment Commission, emphasized that the legislation must address the specific needs of Guanajuato, particularly for strategic sectors such as automotive, agro-industry, and tourism.
