Guanajuato launches pilot program for real-time municipal auditing
The state of Guanajuato has entered a pilot program to implement real-time auditing of federalized resources across its 46 municipalities. Following a meeting between Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo and the Superior Auditor of the Federation (ASF), Aureliano Hernández Palacios Cardel, a collaboration agreement was signed between the ASF, the state government, and the Superior Auditor of the State of Guanajuato (ASEG).
This agreement allows the ASEG to collaborate in the review of federal funds, such as Ramo 28 and Ramo 33 contributions. The initiative aims to improve transparency and accountability while preventing redundant audits by coordinating efforts between state and federal authorities. The comprehensive audits will cover accounting records, acquisitions, contracts, public works, and the final destination of spending.
Local officials noted that this new system will facilitate the delivery-reception process and allow municipalities to manage audits within the state rather than traveling to federal central offices in Mexico City.
