Guanajuato boosts craft exports and grants 4,000 entrepreneurs
The Coordinadora de Fomento al Comercio Exterior (COFOCE) organized a four‑day business agenda in Guanajuato that hosted an international buyer from Oregon, United States, representing Cactus Canyon Ceramics. The buyer met with 11 artisan firms in Dolores Hidalgo, evaluating their products for export through channels such as Amazon and Walmart and emphasizing U.S. market standards like lead‑free production and consumer safety. The effort is part of Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo’s strategy to increase the competitiveness of local micro, small and medium enterprises.
In parallel, the state‑run program Tú Puedes Guanajuato, under the “Creemos en Ti” initiative, will allocate non‑reimbursable grants of 7,000 pesos to 4,000 entrepreneurs—primarily women and youth—through 2026. Recipients must complete a mandatory entrepreneurship workshop before receiving funds, which are intended for equipment, tools, and inputs. The scheme builds on 2025’s distribution of more than 3,500 supports across all 46 municipalities, aiming to strengthen small‑business productivity and local economic development.
