Guanajuato legislators review judicial constitutional reforms

The Guanajuato Governance and Constitutional Points Commission held a working session to review two initiatives aimed at reforming the state's Political Constitution and Legislative Decree number 80.

The first initiative, proposed by the MORENA parliamentary group, seeks to harmonize the local constitution with the federal constitution. Key objectives include providing certainty to the 2028 judicial process, updating the powers of state authorities, strengthening the Judicial Discipline Tribunal, and regulating vacancies and resignations. It also aims to align the local judicial reform and the recall process for the head of the state executive.

The second proposal, presented by the National Action Party (PAN) and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), focuses on aligning the local constitution with federal judicial reforms to strengthen the democratic system. This proposal seeks to increase citizen trust in justice organs and encourage social participation in the election processes for judges and magistrates in Guanajuato.
