Guanajuato shootings injure several people, including children

Multiple armed attacks in the Mexican state of Guanajuato have resulted in several injuries, including children.

In Pénjamo, two separate incidents occurred on a Wednesday night. The first involved gunmen on a motorcycle firing at two men in the Corral de Piedra neighborhood, wounding a 54-year-old man and a 20-year-old man. Hours later, a second attack targeted a residence in the Jalisco alley, where a nine-year-old girl was struck in the leg by a projectile. She was reported to be in stable condition.

In Acámbaro, gunmen opened fire on at least two homes in the downtown area on a Friday night. A three-year-old girl was injured in the leg after being struck by gunfire during the assault. This incident follows a recent wave of violence in the municipality, including a September 4 attack that left four people dead and several others injured, including a five-month-old infant.

The State Attorney General's Office has launched investigations into both sets of attacks to identify the perpetrators, who remain at large.
