Guanajuato targets advanced manufacturing and tech investment

During the Binational Convention 2026 organized by The American Society of Mexico, Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo outlined Guanajuato’s strategy to transition toward advanced manufacturing and high-value technological sectors. The state aims to move beyond traditional manufacturing by attracting investments in new technologies and strengthening local participation in global supply chains.

García highlighted the deep economic integration between Guanajuato and the United States. In 2025, bilateral trade between the state and the U.S. reached approximately $47.7 billion, consisting of $33 billion in exports and nearly $15 billion in imports of components and goods. The Governor emphasized that the relationship has evolved from simple buying and selling into integrated value chains.

Currently, 1,418 local companies participate in exports to 113 countries, with 78 percent being micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. To support this growth, the state is leveraging its geographic location, connecting road and rail networks with Pacific and Gulf ports, alongside logistics infrastructure such as Guanajuato Puerto Interior.
