Guaramirim opens 400 slots for pet sterilization drive under Santa Catarina program

The municipality of Guaramirim announced that registrations are open for 400 free sterilization slots for dogs and cats as part of the state‑run "Pet Levado a Sério" initiative. Applications must be submitted through the Guaramirim na Mão app starting at 13:00 on Wednesday.

The two‑day mutirão will take place on Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, in the Corticeira neighbourhood. Saturday’s services are scheduled at the Nossa Senhora Aparecida Community (Rua Hermínio Stringari, 1509) and Sunday’s at the F. E. José Dequech Municipal School (Rua Hermínio Stringari, 1287). Participants must present proof of residence in Guaramirim on the day of the procedure. The program, a partnership between the municipality and the Santa Catarina government, aims to improve animal welfare, control the street‑animal population and protect public health, with a target of 1,001 sterilizations by the end of 2026.
