Guardia Civil arrests two men for railway cable theft in Baides

The Guardia Civil has arrested two men, aged 32 and 56, for the theft of railway material at the Baides station in Guadalajara. The arrests occurred in the early hours of October 3 following a citizen report regarding a suspicious van near the tracks.

Upon inspecting the vehicle near the Ermita de la Soledad, officers discovered copper cabling belonging to the railway infrastructure, valued at approximately 8,000 euros. Also seized were a cutting tool hidden under a passenger seat, two knives, various work tools, and license plates stolen earlier this year in Parla.

This incident follows a pattern of recurring thefts in the Baides area, including a previous interception of a driver on the A-2 highway in July and the dismantling of a group involved in cutting rails with blowtorches last year.
