The Guardia di Finanza has conducted several major operations across Italy targeting economic crimes, including fraud, tax evasion, and illegal labor.

In Matera, a physician is under investigation for aggravated fraud against the local health authority (ASM). Authorities seized approximately 46,779 euros following allegations that the doctor reported false working hours between 2021 and 2024, including overlapping professional commitments and hours lacking electronic records.

In Avellino, investigators uncovered a massive 60-million-euro tax fraud involving a network of 10 ‘paper companies’ used to issue fake invoices. This ‘carousel fraud’ allowed a company specializing in electronic products to evade over 7 million euros in VAT.

In Florence, summer inspections resulted in 348 irregularities found across 577 interventions, including undeclared revenues and illegal labor. In Pistoia, authorities discovered 29 irregular workers and uncovered undeclared revenues totaling 280,000 euros.

In the Reggio Emilia and Parma regions, assets seized from a dismantled clandestine cigarette factory—including a semi-trailer truck, a generator, and various appliances—have been transferred to the Italian Red Cross for social use.
