Guardia di Finanza uncovers international tax evasion in Italy
The Guardia di Finanza in Udine has uncovered an international tax evasion scheme involving the decorative paper trade. The investigation revealed that two foreign companies, one Spanish and one Austrian, both belonging to the same multinational corporation, failed to declare over 2.5 million euros in income generated within Italy.
Authorities discovered that an office in San Giorgio di Nogaro, officially designated as a mere representative office, was actually functioning as a permanent establishment used by two commercial directors to distribute products across the Italian market. This setup allowed the companies to avoid taxes on their local operations.
The tax evasion, including administrative sanctions, exceeds 800,000 euros. Following the investigation, the involved companies cooperated with financial authorities, making an immediate payment of over 700,000 euros and committing to pay an additional 120,000 euros by the 2025 tax filing deadline.
