Guardiagrele forum promotes artisanal crafts as driver of experiential tourism in Abruzzo
The CNA Turismo Abruzzo forum held in Guardiagrele’s Chiostro di San Francesco previewed the 2026 edition of Active Abruzzo, focusing on turning the region’s artisanal heritage into a pillar of experiential tourism. Participants highlighted the potential of local workshops—jewellery, textiles, food products and other traditional crafts—to attract discerning visitors and diversify the tourism offer.
Regional CNA Turismo head Gabriele Marchese stressed the need for a shared strategy to make craftsmanship an emotional experience for tourists. Sub‑Secretary of Tourism Daniele D’Amario cited strong foreign visitor numbers, while Chamber of Commerce president Gennaro Strever pointed to market opportunities such as Japan. Experts including Fondazione Symbola director Domenico Sturabotti, Guardiagrele craft‑show president Gianfranco Marsibilio, GAL Maiella Verde head Tiziano Teti, Abruzzo BNB‑Extra president Lucia Simioni and national CNA Turismo director Cristiano Tomei all called for coordinated investment, quality accommodation and year‑round promotion of the region’s distinctive products.
