Guatemala and Costa Rica gear up for 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

Guatemala is in the final stage of preparation for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, with only 20 days left before the multi‑sport event begins. Athletes, coaches and support staff are intensifying training to ensure they compete in optimal physical, technical and tactical condition, hoping to showcase national pride and achieve strong results across the disciplines.

Costa Rican hurdler Gerald Drummond, 31, is also focusing on the Games, targeting gold in the 400 m hurdles. After a recent hamstring strain disrupted his season, he logged a silver medal at the Pan American Championships and is now prioritising rest, recovery and nutrition to arrive in the best possible shape for the competition in San Salvador.
