Guatemalan authorities have cleared 34 road blockades across the country following widespread protests over rising fuel costs. The Ministry of the Interior confirmed that the last blockade in Río Hondo, Zacapa, was cleared late Friday night. The operations, supported by the Army and National Civil Police, were conducted in compliance with a Constitutional Court resolution to restore free movement.

During the unrest, at least two police officers were wounded by gunfire in Cuyotenango, Suchitepéquez. Authorities also reported the arrest of 14 individuals and the seizure of eight vehicles used to obstruct traffic. To mitigate the economic impact of fuel price hikes, the government has implemented a law establishing maximum consumer prices: Q39 for diesel and regular gasoline, and Q41 for premium gasoline.

President Bernardo Arévalo has accused local politicians and criminal organizations, including drug traffickers and gangs, of financing the blockades to create national instability. The President stated that the government is investigating these links and will file formal complaints with the Public Ministry. Meanwhile, over 400 fuel transport vehicles are working to restock approximately 1,200 supply centers to normalize the national fuel supply.
