Guatemala PGN signs agreement with six state agencies to protect minors

The Procuraduría General de la Nación (PGN) in Guatemala has signed a cooperation agreement with six state institutions to improve the protection of children and adolescents. The initiative aims to coordinate immediate and comprehensive care for minors whose human rights have been threatened or violated, as well as those in situations of human mobility.

The signatory entities include the Secretaría de Bienestar Social de la Presidencia, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. The agreement seeks to unify state capacities to facilitate access to health, education, security, and social programs, while also creating training and employment opportunities for families.

To ensure accountability, the agreement establishes a technical committee that will meet every three months to evaluate implemented measures and monitor the execution of the pact. This follows a year in which the PGN has attended to more than 49,000 children and adolescents in Guatemala regarding various legal and social issues.
