Guatemala schedules widespread electricity outages for June 13‑20

The municipal electric company of Quetzaltenango (EEMQ) announced planned power interruptions for the weekend of 13‑14 June. Service will be cut from 01:00‑05:00 on Saturday in the Ramal Xela III area, affecting neighborhoods such as La Pinada, Hospital Regional de Occidente, the airport and surrounding streets. On Sunday, interruptions will run from 06:00‑16:00 in the Ramal Xela V zone, including the municipal center, the regional justice complex and the Cantel factory area.

The National Institute of Electrification (INDE) also issued a maintenance schedule for the week of 13‑20 June, affecting four departments: Totonicapán, Quetzaltenango, Baja Verapaz and Chiquimula. Specific municipalities and villages will see outages at various times between 07:00 and 17:00, with the longest disruption planned for Baja Verapaz on 19 June. Both utilities warned residents to expect temporary loss of service and provided contact numbers for further information.
