Guatemala to compete in inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup

The Guatemala Under-15 national team, led by coach Edgar Cotto, is preparing for the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan from October 22 to 30, 2026.

The tournament will feature over 3,000 participants, including players, coaches, and referees, from at least 191 federations. It will utilize an innovative 8-a-side format with two 20-minute periods to maximize player development. Most matches will be held at the Hovsan Sports Complex in Baku, with category finals taking place at the Crystal Hall.

Guatemala has been placed in Group P, alongside American Samoa, Canada, Guinea, Honduras, and Singapore. FIFA intends to establish this event as a permanent fixture on the international sporting calendar.
