Guatemala to host major urban and traditional cultural events in 2026

Guatemala is hosting two major cultural events in 2026, highlighting both contemporary urban trends and traditional folk customs.

Street Fever 2026 is scheduled for August 29 at Fórum Majadas. The event serves as a regional hub for Latin American urban culture, integrating streetwear, fashion, art, and music. The ninth edition will feature international guests and brands from Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and Spain. Key participants include Kiko Báez of the Mexican brand BAEZ, as well as representatives from Colombian and Puerto Rican fashion and lifestyle projects.

On September 27, the second Encuentro de Conviteros will take place in Guatemala City's Historic Center. Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the event aims to preserve the country's intangible cultural heritage. This edition will feature 139 groups representing 20 departments, with more than 4,000 participants including dancers, musicians, and masqueraders. The celebration will involve two distinct parades starting from Parque Jocotenango and the Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center, both converging at Plaza de la Constitución.
