Guatemalan business groups seek legal action against road blockades
Business organizations in Guatemala are taking legal action to prevent road closures and threats to strategic infrastructure. The Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations (CACIF) filed an injunction with the Constitutional Court to protect the right to free movement and prevent the paralysis of key sites, including La Aurora International Airport.
Business chambers, including the Chamber of Industry and the Chamber of Commerce, have warned that such blockades cause significant economic losses, disrupt productivity, and threaten the security of workers and consumers. They have called on the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense to implement preventive measures and ensure the free circulation of people and goods across the country.
