Guayaquil invests USD 19 million in urban infrastructure and renewal
The Municipality of Guayaquil is executing extensive urban renewal and infrastructure projects, with approximately USD 19 million invested in the city center. These works include the renovation of Plaza San Francisco, the regeneration of Ayacucho Street, and the rehabilitation of over 14 kilometers of central streets. Additionally, the Julio Cartagena park in the Juan Montalvo sector has reached 100% completion following a USD 249,000 investment.
As part of these infrastructure improvements, reconstruction work has begun on Clemente Ballén Street. This project has led the Transit and Mobility Authority (ATM) to reroute 20 urban bus lines and close specific intersections for approximately three months. To manage construction waste, the municipality has also highlighted six free collection centers across the city to prevent illegal dumping in public spaces.
