Guayaquil firefighters hold traditional Torch Parade

Approximately 300 members of the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos de Guayaquil (BCBG) participated in the traditional Torch Parade on Saturday, September 26. The march, which serves as the start of the institutional schedule for Firefighter Day on October 10 and coincides with Guayaquil's independence festivities, began at 6:00 PM at Parque Centenario.

Participants from various brigades and specialized divisions marched through the city center, including the Nueve de Octubre avenue, carrying torches, flags, and rescue axes. The procession was accompanied by a marching band and concluded at the Museo del Bombero Ecuatoriano “Jefe Félix Luque Plata” near Plaza Colón. The event, led by second chief Lieutenant Colonel Leopoldo Terán González, aims to strengthen the bond between the institution and the community while honoring the history of the voluntary service, which was formally established by decree in 1835.
