Ecuadorian Firefighters Day commemorations
Overview
In late September, the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos de Guayaquil (BCBG) initiated its institutional schedule for Firefighter Day by holding a traditional Torch Parade. Approximately 300 members marched through Guayaquil’s city center, carrying torches and flags to honor the history of voluntary service.
By early October, commemorative activities expanded across Ecuador. In Latacunga, the Firefighters Corps organized hospital visits, family integration events, and a planned fire services fair, alongside a torchlight parade and a civic ceremony to recognize long-serving personnel. In Guayaquil, the BCBG conducted its traditional ‘Water Exercise’ on 9 de Octubre Avenue, involving 900 firefighters in public demonstrations using water and foam.
