Guayaquil implements cleaning operations and fines for illegal waste disposal

Authorities in Guayaquil are intensifying efforts to combat illegal waste disposal and recover public spaces. In the Bastión Popular sector, an integral cleaning operation led by Urvaseo and the Municipal Cleaning Directorate (DACMSE) successfully cleared accumulated trash and odors through deep cleaning and pressure washing.

To prevent the recurrence of illegal dumping, the Municipality has implemented stricter enforcement measures. Individuals caught disposing of rubble or large-volume waste in unauthorized public areas, such as the Perimetral road, the areas surrounding ESPOL, and Cerro Azul, face fines of up to $602.50. Surveillance has been bolstered using SEGURA EP cameras and informative signage installed by the ATM to monitor critical points.

Citizens are encouraged to use the six free centers available throughout the year for proper rubble disposal and to adhere to established waste collection schedules to maintain urban sanitation.
