Guayaquil launches environmental education and heritage conservation initiatives

Guayaquil is implementing new local initiatives focused on environmental education and heritage preservation. Consorcio Urvaseo has launched an environmental education program for schools and colleges in the city. The campaign uses music and interactive activities to teach students about proper waste disposal, collection schedules, and environmental responsibility to foster better civic habits.

Simultaneously, the Guayaquil Mayor's Office has introduced a new heritage ordinance designed to incentivize property owners to maintain and restore historic buildings. The ordinance provides financial relief, such as exemptions from public road occupation fees, to reduce the costs of structural repairs. Notable projects benefiting from these measures include the technical stabilization of the Casa Tola facade and the renovation of the Furgón building.
