Argentina legal system processes multiple homicide and abuse trials

Various legal proceedings are underway across Argentina involving sexual abuse, homicide, and fraud cases.

In Guaymallén, Leandro Emanuel Contreras Sottile, known as ‘Chupete’, is facing a jury trial for the 2013 shooting death of Lucas Fabián Bruno. Contreras Sottile, a former member of the Independiente Rivadavia supporters' group, had been a fugitive for over a decade. Prosecutors allege he fired seven shots from a vehicle, killing Bruno.

In Río Grande, Adrián Pizarro is on trial for the 2019 sexual abuse of a domestic worker. The defendant has testified, claiming the relationship was consensual.

Other notable cases include a trial in La Plata against evangelical pastor Esteban Cayetano Núñez Morel for the sexual abuse of two minors, and a trial in Pueblo Esther against a 53-year-old man accused of abusing his partner's daughter. Additionally, in San Juan, Néstor Abel Álvarez Gallardo received a conditional eight-month sentence for grooming a 14-year-old via WhatsApp.

In Paraguay, a trial continues regarding a large-scale real estate fraud involving former minister Dany Durand and the company Mocipar, which allegedly caused significant financial losses to dozens of victims.
